Kaisar Anvar is a concert pianist and piano educator based in Reston, Virginia.

Kaisar holds a Master of Music from the Yale School of Music, where he studied under Boris Berman, one of the leading piano pedagogues of the last fifty years. He earlier trained at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music under concert pianist Yoshikazu Nagai, as well as Florida State University under New Zealand pianist Read Gainsford, and at the Interlochen Arts Academy under Thomas Lymenstull.

His early training began at age six in Karamay, Xinjiang, under Tumris Musabayov and Svetlana Abdukarimova of the Tashkent Conservatory. In 2006, pianist Dr. Richard Mercier invited him to perform in a master class during a tour of Xinjiang — the experience that pointed him toward a career in classical piano and led to his acceptance at Interlochen.

He has also received guidance in master classes from faculty at Juilliard (Yoheved Kaplinsky, Jerome Löwenthal), the Manhattan School of Music (Solomon Mikowsky), the Eastman School of Music (Nelita True), Paris Conservatory (Yves Henry), and Indiana University (Menahem Pressler), as well as Van Cliburn Competition winner Olga Kern.

While at Yale, Kaisar taught undergraduate and secondary students, in addition to a private studio. He received a Certificate of Recognition for preparing students to perform at Carnegie Hall. Kaisar researches Uyghur music: its history, aesthetics, and performance practice, and works to bring it into conversation with the Western classical tradition.

Kaisar recently traveled to Vienna, Austria, where he partnered with Kaiser Klavier Haus to test more than 60 pianos, evaluating tone, action, and build quality to identify areas for improvement.
