Matt Thompson teaches drum set, percussion, guitar, and bass at our Ashburn location on Friday afternoons and evenings. He works with students of every age and level, and he builds each lesson around the music the student is passionate about. He is the author of Perspectives on Snare Drum and Drum Set, and over 34 years of teaching he has helped launch professional players including Alex Rudinger, Anup Sastry, and Max Phelps, along with many working music educators. Matt founded and ran Music for Unity for six years, a nonprofit that gave local musicians a stage while raising money for humanitarian causes. He also owns a martial arts school, and he brings the same focus on discipline and steady practice to every lesson.
