Anna Hallett Gutierrez is a violinist originally from York, Pennsylvania who began her studies of the violin at the age of four.  She was an active member of local youth orchestras and was awarded top prizes in local concerto competitions.  She received her BA in violin performance from Bard College Conservatory of Music under the guidance of Weigang Li. Before Bard, she was privileged to study with Netanel Draiblate, Gretchen Dekker, and Jennifer Herrera-Mullar.  She has been honored to perform in masterclasses conducted by David Kim, members of the Lydian String Quartet, Simón Gollo, and members of the Dalí Quartet.  She has also attended distinguished music festivals, including OneWorld Symphonic Festival, Dalí Quartet International Music Festival, and Nuevo Mundo Festival & Academy in Aruba.

In Bard College Conservatory of Music’s double-degree program, Ms. Hallett Gutierrez received her BA in philosophy under the guidance of Professor Garry Hagberg. Her Senior Project in philosophy, entitled Investigating Wittgenstein’s Philosophical Investigations, was awarded the William E. Lensing Prize in Philosophy (a prize awarded to a philosophy major for excellence in the field).

Since moving to Leesburg, Virginia in 2025, Ms. Hallett Gutierrez has been privileged to perform with numerous ensembles in the DMV area and beyond.  In the ’26-’27 season, she will perform as Assistant Principal Second Violin with the Loudoun Symphony Orchestra and National String Symphonia, Principal Second Violin with the Main Street Chamber Orchestra, and as a first violinist for the Northern Neck Orchestra.  Additionally, she is the Treasurer for the Virginia String Teachers Association. 

Ms. Hallett Gutierrez aims to bring the love of music to the next generation through teaching, coaching, and adjudicating.  She enjoys working with students of all ages and abilities and believes it is never too early or too late to enrich your life with music.
