Ryan Roikola is a multi-instrumentalist based out of Washington, DC. He has received his Bachelors in Music Education from Lynchburg College and a Masters in Music Performance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA). Ryan has studied with Saxton Rose at UNCSA and Michael Harley at the University of South Carolina.

While his main instrument is the bassoon, he enjoys teaching the clarinet, saxophone, and guitar. At The Music Loft, he is an encouraging teacher and loves for his students to perform whenever the opportunity arises. Ryan is a fan of contemporary music and helps his students expand their knowledge and repertoire of new composers and pieces.

Ryan is also an active performer in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast. He holds several substitute positions with various orchestras in Virginia and North Carolina, the Principal Bassoon Position with the Capital Wind Symphony, and you can find him and his group, Neglected Electric, performing in the Washington, DC and NOVA area. When he’s not teaching or performing, Ryan enjoys exploring new restaurants with his wife, Brittany, and chihuahua, Sylvia.
