Meet Virginia Crawley
Herndon, Ashburn
Virginia Crawley is a privately-trained classical pianist who has taught piano in the northern Virginia area since 2007.
Virginia grew up in a family of musicians and began learning piano at the age of six. In middle school and high school, her confidence soared as she enjoyed accompanying her school choirs, winning piano awards, and performing in recitals.
Virginia’s teaching style incorporates the necessary piano technique and theory as a music foundation, while adding a touch of warmth and personality to her lessons. Her students learn how to practice correctly, while enjoying the learning process and milestones they reach. Her students have gone on to accompany, make music of their own, enjoy piano as a hobby, or pursue music degrees.
Many of Virginia’s students enjoy participating in the Royal Conservatory of Music program. She encourages lots of recital and performance opportunities, and offers several per school year.
When Virginia is not teaching piano, she enjoys singing in her church’s choir, and playing duets with her musical friends. She and a Music Loft colleague recently placed Gold in the Eric Satie International Competition in the Duo category. Virginia’s non-musical hobbies include reading, water aerobics, following baseball, and petsitting. She’s also a Trekkie.
Virginia serves as Membership Chair of Music Teachers of Fairfax-Loudoun, and is a member of the Music Teacher’s National Association.
She lives in Herndon with her husband Kenny.
